Metal Airplane Hangars
Steel aircraft hangar buildings built around your aircraft and engineered for your site.

What is a steel airplane hangar?
A steel airplane hangar is a clear span metal building sized to your wingspan, your tail height and the door you want to fly through. Silverline Structures engineers each hangar for the snow and wind loads at your site, whether that is an airpark lot in Colorado, a grass strip in Florida or a private field anywhere in the lower 48. Steel framing gives you a column-free floor to taxi, turn and park, and a building that will not rot, warp or attract pests the way wood framing can.

Start with your wingspan, add room to walk around the aircraft and store gear, then set the door width to clear the wings and the eave height to clear the tail.
45×40 ft, cold formed: light singles such as a Cessna 172 or Piper Archer
50×40 ft, cold formed: high performance singles such as a Bonanza or Cirrus SR22
50×45 ft, cold formed: light twins such as a Baron or Seneca
70×60 ft, red iron: turboprops such as a Pilatus PC-12 or King Air 350
80×80 ft and up, red iron: two or more aircraft, or a hangar with shop and office space
Choose your door

Bifold
Lifts up and out on a fold, giving a full width opening and a shaded canopy when open.

Hydraulic
One solid panel raised by hydraulic cylinders. Fast, quiet and suited to wide openings.

Sliding
Panels roll aside on a track. A cost effective way to open a wide endwall.
Clear span, door openings and eave height
Hangars up to 60 feet wide use cold formed steel, a lighter frame that goes up fast. Above 60 feet, Silverline builds with red iron (heavy I-beam) framing, which clears spans past 150 feet with no interior posts.
Eave height is set by your tail height plus clearance, and the endwall is framed for the door you choose: bifold, hydraulic or sliding. Every hangar ships with stamped engineering drawings for your county or airport authority.
